It is He who made the earth manageable for you—so walk through its paths and eat of His provision. And to Him is the resurrection. ﴾
(Surah Al-Mulk, 67:15)
Educational objectives for observation and reflection
Program: Aya & Maʿlûma
1️⃣ Divine creativity in creation ✨
- The child reflects on how God designed the Earth to be suitable for life:
a stable ground that does not shake, diverse landscapes (mountains, plains, valleys), and soil that produces food. - The child understands that the Earth is prepared and precisely balanced:
neither too hard to prevent living, nor too soft to swallow what is on it. - He or she discovers that this delicate balance is an intentional divine creativity, not a coincidence.
2️⃣ Divine mercy
- The child learns that making the Earth “manageable” is a great mercy from God to humankind:
we walk on it safely, build homes, farm, and travel. - The child understands that God did not only create the Earth, but also made it easy for us to live on it with reassurance.
- The child learns that deep inside the Earth there is fire and intense heat (molten magma),
yet we live on its surface in safety and peace. - The child understands that, out of His mercy, God placed layers between us and this fire that maintain balance,
so we do not feel its heat and are not burned by it. - The child reflects on how God regulates power through order:
fire in the depths and safety on the surface— a mercy we do not see, yet live with every day.
3️⃣ Gratitude
- The child practices thanking God for the blessing of the Earth that carries and feeds them.
- The child learns that every bite of food and every step taken is a reason for gratitude.
- A sense of responsibility develops: whoever is grateful for a blessing preserves it and does not harm it.
Hands-on activity for children
Activity: “The heat is contained… and we are safe”
The child expects danger, then discovers safety
The child sees with their own eyes that power can be controlled
The meaning settles in without lengthy explanations
Materials (simple – teacher supervision only):
- A small candle
- Two balloons
- Water
- Matches / a lighter
- A safety plate or tray
Steps of the experiment:
1️⃣ Anticipation (sparking curiosity)
The teacher asks:
- What will happen if we bring the balloon close to the fire?
(Children expect: it will burst)
2️⃣ Scientific surprise
- Fill the first balloon with air only → bring it close to the flame → it bursts immediately
- Fill the second balloon with water → bring it close to the flame → it does not burst
3️⃣ Connecting to the verse (the golden moment)
The teacher calmly says:
Inside the Earth there is very powerful fire,
but God placed between it and us what protects us,
so we live safely on its surface.
What does the child learn without being lectured?
- Fire is powerful ❌
- But the presence of a “barrier” = safety ✔
- God controls power through mercy ✔
