Verse of the Week 2 – The Tongue Season #5

“Have We not made for him two eyes, and a tongue and two lips?”
(Qur’an, Surah Al-Balad, 8–9)

Educational Goals for Reflection and Contemplation

1. Divine Creativity in Creation

  • Children reflect on how the tongue was perfectly designed for speaking, tasting, swallowing, and expressing.

  • They discover that this small organ contains an intricate system of muscles, nerves, and glands.

  • They observe the amazing diversity of tongues among animals as a sign of God’s perfection.

Discovery: The Amazing Tongues of Animals

Glory be to God! Every creature has a tongue designed perfectly for its life and food.

  • Frog: A long sticky tongue that shoots out to catch insects.

  • Giraffe: A half-meter-long tongue used to grab leaves from tall trees.

  • Bee: A tube-shaped tongue (proboscis) to sip nectar from flowers.

  • Cat: A rough tongue that cleans fur and helps in drinking.

  • Chameleon: A tongue longer than its body, launched like a slingshot to catch prey.

“This is the work of Allah, who perfected all things.”(An-Naml 88)

2. Divine Mercy

  • The tongue is a gift of mercy — it allows humans to express needs and emotions.

  • God’s mercy appears in kind words that bring peace and joy.

3. Gratitude

  • Children learn to thank God for the gift of speech and communication.

  • They use their tongues for good words and remembrance.

“O Allah, make my tongue rich with Your remembrance.”

Activity for Children

Game: “A Word that Changes the World”

Goal: To discover how one kind word can change hearts.

How to Play:

  1. Give each child a card with a kind word (Thank you, I love you, Well done, Alhamdulillah, Sorry...).
