What are memories made of memory is a spider's web of connection between brain cells? All across the brain, when you experience something certain brain cells fire at the same time.So that they learn to fire together and length when you recall the experience. These same cells fire again, giving you back the sensation from when you first started that memory.

Memory is related to knowledge. Everytime you learn new things, your brain stretches and grows. In the book: ” Your fantastic elastic brain” written by JoAnn Deak, on page 5 they say the more you use your brain, the more it expands. The memory is a result of that shaping. Memory then is not only something you have but it’s something you build from effort, curiosity and learning. Even if you do mistakes, your brain is still stretching and building memories (page 10-11). Let’s let’s not give up, let’s work harder, let’s gain more knowledge to build memories.
The brain has also different parts. Each part is involved in our Memory.
Let’s thank our God for creating such a fantastic and extremely important part of our body “We will make you recite, and you will not forget” (Surah Al-A‘la, 87:6).

LONG-TERM MEMORY Remembering facts, people, and past events involves our long-term memory, which can last for life. We know this is separate from short-term memory thanks to studies of people with different kinds of amnesia (memory loss). Some people with amnesia can remember the distant past but have trouble recalling new things. Others have perfect short-term memory but struggle to recall the past.

Memory in the brain
Memory includes instinctive processes that you are unaware of, as well as the more obvious parts that allow you to remember what you had for lunch yesterday or your boss's name. Each type of memory uses a range of different brain areas. Scientists used to think the hippocampus was vital for all new memories to form, but now it is thought this is the case only for episodic memories. Other types of memories use other areas, which are spread all around the brain.

Memory is an important part of our Brain. It allows us to function properly in our daily lives. To keep it functional we have to adapt to healthy lifestyle like eating healthy food and regular excercise.
It also help us recall short term events like wat happens just a few mins ago and the long term like wat happened a month or year ago.
With age brain functions decline .You can still do the task but it might take longer.
As a Muslim ,We are blessed to have Quran and Ahlul bayt to guide us through different phases of life.
It has been emphasize in the Holy Quran to do Zikr (remembrance/mentioning)
& Hifz (memorisation/preservation)
"And We have certainly made the Quran easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?" (Surah Al-Qamar, 54:17)

For most people, not only are memory lapses normal, they’re necessary for the functioning of a brain-just as important as the ability to remember. The importance of forgetting is a relatively new concept of science. Until about a decade ago, normal forgetting-in contrast to pathological forgetting that occurs in disease with aging was seen as a passive process that served no useful purpose. Then studies began to bring together numerous field revealing that there are separate nano machines made out of molecules within neurons – one for memories and one for forgetting.
These findings point to an active mechanism of our brain that helps us clear out unnecessary information so that we can retain the most relevant information for long term information. This is an exciting discovery that presents a new pathway for memory specialists to understand better how the brain stores and receives memories and the human brain disorders the memories that interfere with the minds ability to actively forget

Islam acknowledges forgetfulness as an inherent part of being human. In fact, the Quran says:
“And remember your Lord when you forget.” — Surah Al-Kahf
This verse is interpreted as a spiritual remedy for forgetfulness, encouraging believers to engage in dhikr (remembrance of Allah) to counteract it

Many scientists believe that there are two levels of memory. One level is short-term memory, or working memory. The other level is long-term memory, or permanent memory.
Short-term memory is a way to store information temporarily. It lasts about 15 to 30 seconds. An example is keeping a telephone number in mind after looking it up and while dialing.
Long-term memory is the storage of information for longer periods. It can last days, months, years, or a lifetime. Repeating and practicing motions or tasks help the brain to store information for a long time. If a person dials a telephone number many times, the number will move from short-term to long-term memory.

Memory is the process of recalling information that you learned. Many parts of your brain work together to collect information and store it so you can find and access it when you need it. There are different ways memory can be classified :Echoic memory for hearing, Haptic memory for touch, Gustatory memory for taste, Iconic memory for vision, and finally Olfactory memory for smell. Memory is a vital human process and you use it in your everyday lives and it is a very good blessing Allah gave including forgetting.

The human brain contains over 100,000,000,000 cells that relay information to each other. At over 300 kilometers per hour, information is passed from cells that sense if you’re touching something hot, cold, sharp, or soft, to cells in your brain called neurons, which decode the information and relay back to your muscles on what to do.
Not only does the brain regulate when your muscles contract, but it can keep information, allowing you to learn and remember things for years.
Not only that, but a part of your brain can only be described as a miracle! This is your subconscious mind, your conscience, and instincts. For example, how do birds know when to migrate, or where to migrate to? Or how come you take your hand off the stove so fast, before you even knew it was hot?
Your brain looks like a big walnut, but it allows you to be smarter than any computer!
This but another of God’s plentiful miracles and signs of mercy. With all of this, is it not illogical to not thank Him for the blessings He has given us?
